The nurse replaced the IV drip coughing faintly

The author longed to return home to his things

To distract himself from thoughts.
He watched the window as his friend faded

Listened to the thunder, heard only his heart.

If his ears lied to him, how would he know?

Rolling thunder, crashing waves
Present climax, start in caves

When nothing does not exist?
